We were so excited for this snowy winter Leavenworth wedding at Mountain Springs Lodge… and it didn’t disappoint.
How did the two of you meet?
We met in Belize. His dad was marrying my mom’s best friend. He was his dad’s bestman and my mom was the moh. I got invited by the bride and groom when they were visiting my parents in Portland. Going to Belize was kind of a last-minute, spontaneous decision for me. We were staying at Hopkins Bay resort where we officially met, a couple days before the wedding. I didn’t even know Jerry had a son (Stan) at that point…
And how did the proposal happen?
Stan got talked into running to the airport with my dad… he was planning on proposing our last night in Italy. He returned in the knick of time, had me meet him in the lobby for one last sunset beach stroll. It was more of a fast-paced walk, he barely let me take my sandals off. His hand was sweaty and I felt something was “up.” I wanted to sit down and he said, “no,” spun me around and immediately dropped to a knee.
Is there a special reason you chose your Leavenworth wedding venue?
Our first weekend getaway was in Leavenworth. He’s taken me back for anniversaries and valentines. It’s our favorite place. And we love the snow! We thought it only made sense and that we had to get hitched in Leavenworth.
Most anticipated moment from your wedding?
My dad walking me down the aisle, trying to keep my shit together and not cry the whole time. I’m greatly anticipating our first dance, we’ve practiced over the year and I’m nervous I’m going to trip on my dress.
If we bumped into you on a relaxed weekend what would you be doing?
If I had a “relaxed” weekend, I’d choose to be at the Huber family’s beach house in Westport. I’d probably be walking the beach with a mimosa in hand and ending the night with a wild bonfire.
